Press Release - UPD Case #24-0316 - Missing Person

Date: 02-18-2024

Location: 700 block of Village Circle, Ukiah CA 95482

Missing Person: Angel Arturo Murguia-Martinez, 24-Year-Old Ukiah male

On 02/15/2024, at approximately 10 a.m. the Ukiah Police Department (UPD) received a call regarding the unusual behavior of Angel Murguia-Martinez, a twenty-four-year-old Ukiah resident. A family member informed the Ukiah Police Department that Murguia-Martinez had unexpectedly left his residence on foot the night before, and his whereabouts were not known. The family member reported that this was unusual, however they did not consider Murguia-Martinez missing or in danger at the time. A county wide “Be on the Lookout” alert was issued for Murguia-Martinez at that time.

On 02/15/2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Murguia-Martinez’s family re-contacted the Ukiah Police Department and informed them that they had discovered what they believed to be a suicide note that Murguia-Martinez had left behind, and the family also believed that Murguia-Martinez’s firearm was not at his residence.

An active search of the Ukiah area for Murguia-Martinez was initiated, and a cell phone “ping” was attempted on Murguia-Martinez’s wireless device. The cell phone “ping” yielded no location, and it was believed that Murguia-Martinez’s cell phone was turned off. According to Murguia-Martinez’s family, he did not have any history of mental health illnesses, show any signs of depression, or wanting to harm himself.

Murguia-Martinez was entered into the national database as a Missing Person and the California Highway Patrol issued a Feather Alert; an alert to provide immediate information to the public and aid in the swift recovery of Missing Indigenous Persons.

Murguia-Martinez’s whereabouts are currently unknown and the Ukiah Police Department request that anyone with information on Murguia-Martinez or his whereabouts call 911 immediately. Murguia-Martinez is to be considered at risk and possibly armed, so we ask that no one attempt to contact him or detain him in any manner.

As always, UPD’s mission is to make Ukiah as safe a place as possible. If you would like to know more about crime in your neighborhood, you can sign up for telephone, cellphone, and email notifications by clicking the Nixle button on our website; www.ukiahpolice.com.
