Detective's Bureau

                                                                                                  

The Detective Bureau is overseen by a Detective Sergeant and is comprised of officers having the experience and specialized training to perform a variety of tasks and assignments including solving the most serious crimes committed in Ukiah.

A Detective's duties include preparing search warrants, arrest warrants, surveillance, and recovery of stolen property. They conduct complex investigations of homicides, gangs related crimes, property crimes, violent crimes, sexual assault, and child abuse. They also track sex, arson, and drug offenders living in Ukiah.

The Detective Bureau prepares and presents reports on these cases to the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office and provides courtroom testimony. The Detective Bureau works closely with surrounding agencies, including the Mendocino County Sherriff’s Office, the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office and District Attorney’s Investigator’s Office and the Mendocino Major Crimes Task Force. The Detective’s Bureau handled 494 cases in 2021.
