Statistics

Arrests included: 7 for drug influence and/or possessing drug paraphernalia, 6 for public intoxication, 5 for domestic violence, 3 warrant arrests, 3 for shoplifting, and 1 each for: false identity to law enforcement, possessing stolen property, and possession of pepper spray by a convicted felon. Probation or parole holds were placed on 2 of these arrests.

Officers investigated 2 traffic collisions and 1 hit and run traffic collision. Two vehicles were impounded for 30 days due to the drivers being unlicensed or suspended.

Officers took reports of: 3 found property, 3 suicidal subjects, 3 frauds. 3 child neglect, 2 vandalisms, and 1 each of; elder abuse, identity theft, abandoned vehicle, rape, and burglary.

Officers assisted Mendocino County Adult Protective Service with an elder abuse investigation, and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office with a stabbing investigation.

Highlights for the Week

On March 19

that about 4:30 PM Ukiah Police responded to 520 East Perkins Street to speak with a female about being stalked. Officers contacted 28 year old Krista Marie Mitchum, of Fort Bragg, who told officers she wanted to report someone stalking her "in her head". Mitchum explained a male was stalking her in her head and she could not get him out of her mind. Mitchum displayed symptoms of a chronic methamphetamine user, and was found to have used the drug recently and was arrested for being under the influent of a controlled substance. Mitchum later admitted the stalker was probably her imagination. 13-06381

On March 21

stat about 9:35 PM a Ukiah Police Officer observed 18 year old Carlos Carrillo Morales, of Ukiah, emerge from between two closed businesses in the 100 block of Luce Avenue. Morales was found to have alcohol in his possession, and provided the officer with a date of birth indicating he was 21 years old. The officer determined Morales’ true identity and age, and arrested him for prowling, possessing alcohol by a minor, and providing false identity. 13-0707

On March 22

ndat about 5:45 PM Ukiah Police responded to Kohl’s, at 437 North Orchard Avenue, for two shoplifters. Officers learned store employees had observed 20 year old Jennifer Bair, of Nebraska, and 25 year old Jessica Simcox, of Tennessee, leave the store with over $300.00 of clothing concealed within a backpack. The officer arrested the suspects for shoplifting and criminal conspiracy, and transported them to the County Jail where Simcox was found to have various drugs concealed on her person, within her clothing. Simcox had prescription medication, heroin, and ecstasy, as well as paraphernalia used to ingest the drugs. Simcox was additionally charged with possessing controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. 13-0714

On March 24

that about 8:25 PM Ukiah Police responded to the Ukiah Six Theater, at 612 South State Street, for an intoxicated subject. Officers learned 30 year old Justin Richard Gourno, of Redwood Valley, had been yelling at employees and causing a disturbance inside the theater. Gourno was very intoxicated and was arrested for public drunkenness. 13-0730

On March 25

Kester-Tyler, of Boonville, had been in altercation with his grandparents because they had bothered him while he was talking on a cell phone. Kester-Tyler apparently threw his skateboard into the ground in anger, and pushed both his grandparents, and continued acting erratically. Kester-Tyler displayed symptoms of recent drug use, and was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. 13-0734

On March 26

that about11:20 AM Ukiah Police contacted 28 year old Bryan William Stencil, of Willits, in the 400 block of Clara Avenue. Stencil was on Post-Release Community Supervision, a recent alternative to state parole wherein criminals with felony convictions who would have been previously incarcerated within the California Department of Corrections then supervised on parole by CDC Parole, are now supervised by County Probation. Stencil was found to possess pepper spray, which is prohibited to convicted felons, and was arrested for illegal weapons possession and violating his supervised released. 13-0740
