On 01/04/2022 at about 5:39 PM, UPD Officers were dispatched to the area of the Pear Tree Center (PTC) located in the 500 block of E. Perkins St., in regards to reports of a vehicle that appeared to be chasing four juveniles in the parking lot.  A caller provided a description of the juveniles and the vehicle’s license plate number.  As Officers arrived in the area, reports indicated the juveniles had last been seen running toward Ford St from the north side of PTC.  Officers began canvasing the area for the juveniles and the vehicle.  Officers observed three subjects attempting to hide behind a parked vehicle on Hospital Dr. near Hamilton Street.  The Officers contacted the three subjects and determined all were juveniles.  Officers recognized one juvenile (S1) from the aforementioned case on 11/07/2021.  All three juveniles were wearing red, black and white clothing and all had multiple tattoos that were consistent with Norteno gang affiliation.  S1 and S2 were wearing ski style masks covering their faces.  The juveniles were detained without incident.  A search of the area where they had been initially seen hiding, revealed a loaded black, semi-auto, Glock 9mm handgun.  The firearm was located underneath the vehicle they had been hiding behind.  Further inspection of the firearm showed it was an un-registered, un-serialized firearm (ghost gun).  The firearm was loaded with 6 live cartridges and one was in the chamber of the firearm.   The three juveniles were arrested for the above noted violations and booked at the Juvenile Hall.

The owner of the vehicle that had been reportedly chasing the four subjects was contacted and it was determined they were the parents of a reported missing juvenile.  The parents had been attempting to catch their child.  This juvenile was the fourth subject, who was not located, had been reported as a missing person to MCSO.
