Press Release - UPD Case #19-2638 - Possession of Loaded Concealed Firearm

On 09/27/2019, at about 6:46 PM, the Ukiah Police Department was contacted by a citizen concerned that they had observed a male subject with a firearm concealed in waistband. The reporting party stated that the subject was walking in the area of Pine Street and Low Gap Road. Officers immediately responded to the area and began searching for the subject. During this time, the reporting party re-contacted UPD and advised that he had seen the subject again in the 900 block of N. Oak Street.

Ukiah Police Officers subsequently located the male subject, who was identified as 23 year old Skylar Vincent. Vincent was found to have a loaded 9mm handgun concealed in his waistband. A records check of the firearm revealed that the handgun was not registered to Vincent. In addition to this, Vincent was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and under the influence of a controlled substance. Vincent was subsequently booked into the Mendocino County Jail on both felony and misdemeanor charges related to the above facts.

As always, one of the Ukiah Police Department’s missions is the safety of our community. We would like to remind anyone who believes they see a firearm to not approach the subject and to immediately report it to law enforcement. Ukiah Police Department can be reached either by 9-1-1 or by our 24 hour non-emergency number (707) 463-6262.
