PRESS RELEASE, UPD CASE #19-2403

LOCATION/VICTIM: 740 N. Spring St. (Pomolita Middle School)

CRIME: 422(a) PC-Terrorist Threats-Felony
71 PC PC-Threatening a School Official-Felony
SUSPECT: 13 year old male, Ukiah Name withheld due to age)
On 09/05/19, at approximately 11:25 AM, School Resource Officer (SRO) B. Chapman was notified
by Pomolita School Officials that a student was causing a disturbance on campus and making threats
towards school officials and the facility. The threats made by the student involved using a gun. The
student then left the campus and was followed by school officials. The student’s parent had been
notified and the parent picked up the student before Law Enforcement arrived.
Ukiah Police Patrol and units from the Detective Division began looking for the student, who was
ultimately located at 12:57 PM, off campus and arrested without incident. The student was not armed
and no weapons were located. The student was transported to the Mendocino County Juvenile Hall,
where he was booked and lodged for the above listed charges.
The Ukiah Police Department and the Ukiah Unified School District take these incidents extremely
