246 PC: Willful Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Vehicle

On November 11 at approximately 9:05 PM, Officers were dispatched to the area of Observatory Ave. and Helen Ave. due to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area. Callers reported eight to nine gunshots were heard in the area and vehicle(s) were reported fleeing the area.

Upon arrival, UPD Officers located several expended casings in the roadway at the intersection of Observatory Ave. and Helen Ave. An investigation was conducted which included review of video surveillance from a residence in the area and interviews of numerous witnesses. Through this investigation, Officers confirmed that two vehicles were at that intersection and the occupants of a sedan fired numerous gunshots at the other vehicle. Both vehicles fled the area, prior to the arrival of UPD Officers. At the scene of the shooting an uninvolved and unoccupied vehicle was also struck by a bullet.

The Ukiah Police Department’s Detective Bureau has assumed the investigation of this incident and is pursuing investigative leads regarding the associated vehicles. At the time of this press release, it is unknown if there were any injuries as a result of the shooting. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact UPD.
