On 9/6/12 at about 11:30 PM, a Ukiah Police Department Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle (a black 1983 Mercedes 2 door coupe) at the intersection of S. State St. and Talmage Rd. for numerous vehicle code violations. The driver attempted to evade the officer and fled in the vehicle E/B on Talmage Rd. reaching speeds at times of approx. 80 mph. The driver failed to yield to the officer’s lights and siren and continued driving erratically into the Talmage area. The driver drove onto the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas property (2001 Talmage Rd.) and rammed through a mechanical gate arm which controls vehicle access to the property. After ramming through the gate arm, the driver continued through the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas at approx. 50 mph. The driver drove to the end of a cul de sac and stopped. The driver attempted to flee on foot and was quickly apprehended after a short foot chase. Additional units from the Ukiah Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, and the Mendocino County Sheriffs Department responded to assist. The driver lodged at Juvenile Hall for the listed charges.
