Statistics

Arrests included: 6 warrant arrests, 4 for possessing methamphetamine, 3 for drug influence and/or possessing drug paraphernalia, 2 for shoplifting, 2 for vehicle tampering, 2 for battery, 2 for public intoxication, 2 for domestic violence, and 1 each for: elder abuse, child endangerment, possessing methamphetamine for sale, burglary, and violating probation or parole. Probation or parole holds were placed on 2 of these arrests.

Officers investigated 3 traffic collisions and 1 hit and run traffic collision. Two vehicles were impounded for 30 days due to the drivers being unlicensed or suspended.

Officers took reports of: 8 found property, 4 vandalisms, 4 thefts, 2 suicidal subjects, 2 animal bite, and 1 each of; domestic violence, elder abuse, resisting or interfering with a peace officer, child neglect, vehicle theft, and fraud.

Officers assisted the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office with a large party call and reported shooting at vehicles call, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office with a burglary investigation, Child Protection Services with a child abuse investigation, the California Highway Patrol with recovering a stolen vehicle and a transient call, and Ukiah Ambulance with an unruly patient.

Highlights for the Week

On March 14th at about 10:20 AM Ukiah Police responded to the area near the High School, in the 1000 block of Low Gap Road, for a reported domestic disturbance. A teacher inside a classroom at the High School reported hearing a male and female arguing, and the female yelling not to be hit anymore. The male was seen leaving in a vehicle, and the female left on foot prior to officers’ arrival, and was not immediately located. An officer had stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Grove Avenue for traffic violations at about the same time, and it was determined the driver, 47 year old William Kenneth Green, was the male subject involved in the domestic argument. Green stated he’d had an argument with the victim, but denied there was any violence involved. The female victim could not be located, and Green was released. At about 11:50 AM the victim contacted Ukiah Police to report Green had damaged her laptop computer during the argument, by grabbing it from her and smashing it. The victim reluctantly admitted she had also been struck in the leg by Green with a stick, which caused a minor injury. The officer broadcast a be on the lookout for the arrest of Green, and on March 16that about 12:00 PM the officer located Green’s vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Low Gap Road. The officer located Green, who stated damaging the computer was an accident and again denied hitting the victim. Green was arrested for domestic violence, assault with a dangerous weapon, theft, and vandalism. 13-0642

On March 15th at about 2:55 AM Ukiah Police responded to the 1000 block of Alice Avenue, regarding two males subjects seen trying to enter parked vehicles. Responding officers located two males, one with a backpack, in the 1100 block of Helen Avenue, and saw the subjects were removing gloves from their hands. The subjects were identified as 19 year old Zechariah James Ellingson, recently of Ukiah, and 18 year old Walter Scott Delauder, of Canyon, Texas. Both admitted they’d entered numerous unlocked vehicles in the area and stole various items, most of which were located inside the backpack. The two subjects explained they’d ran out of money getting Delauder to Ukiah from Texas, and planned to enter unlocked vehicles to take items that could be sold for money. The officers determined the suspects had taken various electronics, sunglasses, CD’s, tools, and other various items worth over $2500.00 from the unlocked vehicles, and later recovered bigger stolen items, such as car speakers, in the area that had been hidden by the suspects. A large amount of the items were later returned to numerous victims in the area, who admitted they’d left their vehicles unlocked with valuables inside. Ellingson and Delauder were arrested for grand theft, possessing stolen property, criminal conspiracy, and vehicle tampering. 13-0648

On March 15th at about 9:55 AM Ukiah Police responded to a residence on Cherry Court regarding a mother caring for her disabled child while under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers contacted 29 year old Aleshia Marie Dedrick, who was alone with her disabled child. Dedrick displayed obvious symptoms of drug influence, and it was determined she had smoked a fairly large amount of methamphetamine recently. Dedrick also had methamphetamine, a methamphetamine smoking pipe, and a hypodermic syringe in her possession. Dedrick was arrested for possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, drug influence, and child endangerment. Dedrick’s child was released to the custody of Child Protective Services. 13-0650

On March 15th at about 7:00 PM Ukiah Police responded to the 600 block of South Main Street for two people fighting inside a parked vehicle. Officers contacted the sole occupant of the vehicle, finding the 83 year old victim’s nose bleeding profusely. Officers learned the victim’s granddaughter, 36 year old Malissa Lynette Warner, was receiving a ride from the victim, and Warner suddenly began yelling and screaming angrily at the victim. The victim stopped the vehicle and ordered Warner out of the vehicle, and Warner punched the victim in the nose and fled. The victim was taken to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center and treated for a laceration and possible broken nose. On March 20that about 10:05 PM the investigating officer learned a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputy was speaking with Warner at Jensen’s Truck Stop, at 1460 Lovers Lane. The officer responded and arrested Warner for battery with injury and elder abuse. 13-0651

On March 16th at about 10:30 PM Ukiah Police contacted 26 year old Baraquiel Ruiz, of Ukiah, in the 1100 block of South State Street. Ruiz displayed symptoms of having used drugs recently, and was found in possession of a methamphetamine smoking pipe and less than a gram of methamphetamine. Ruiz was on bail release after having been recently arrested for a shooting incident. Ruiz was arrested for possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and for committing a felony with a pending felony charge. 13-0660

On March 17th at about 8:40 PM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 700 block of South Oak Street for a subject who had broken the reporting party’s bathroom window. Officers contacted 20 year old Gerald Lee Fuller as he was trying to leave the scene, and found he was bleeding from lacerations on his arm. Officers determined there was a domestic violence restraining order between Fuller and the victim, and that Fuller had been outside the residence and broke out the window. Fuller was taken to Ukiah Valley Medical Center for treatment, and then arrested for violation of a restraining order and vandalism. 13-0665

On March 19th at about 6:40 AM Ukiah Police responded to a business in the 400 block of East Perkins. The business owner reported arriving to find a transient sleeping on the porch of the business, and the subject became irate upon learning the owner had telephoned police. The subject, 45 year old Robert Edward Verville, pushed the owner several times in the chest then fled the area. Verville was quickly located nearby, and placed under citizen’s arrest for battery. 13-0672

On March 19th at about 6:30 AM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of North State Street for a possible domestic disturbance. Officers contacted the victim, who explained her son, 30 year old Justin Michael Settles, arrived home at about 5:00 AM intoxicated. Settles became increasingly agitated and repeatedly yelled at the victim, and when the victim attempted to leave, Settles pushed the door closed and prevented it from being opened. The victim then sat on the couch, and after being unable to calm Settles, tried to stand up. Settles repeatedly pushed the victim down preventing the victim from standing up. The victim was able to enter the backyard and tried to climb the fence to escape Settles. Settles pulled the victim off the fence, and proceeded to throw items about the yard. The victim yelled for help, and felt Settles was a threat and would not allow the victim to leave. Settles was arrested for battery, restrained imprisonment, and preventing the victim from contacting police. 13-0673

On March 20th at about 7:25 PM a Ukiah Police Officer observed 35 year old Louie John Vigil, of Ukiah, walking in the 100 block of Leslie Street. Vigil had a warrant for his arrest, and the officer attempted to contact Vigil, who turned and ran from the officer. The officer engaged in a foot pursuit with Vigil, following him through a hole in a fence and into a nearby field. The officer caught up to Vigil and tackled him, and took him into custody. Vigil possessed less than one gram of methamphetamine, over 2 grams of concentrated cannabis, and several empty baggies. Vigil was arrested for possessing methamphetamine for sale, possessing concentrated cannabis, resisting arrest, and for the warrant. 13-0696

On March 21st at about 12:10 AM Ukiah Police responded to a residence in the 200 block of Observatory Avenue for a domestic dispute. Officers contacted 22 year old Sergio Lopez as he was walking away rom the residence, and found him extremely intoxicated. Officers determined the argument had been over Lopez’ level on intoxication, and he was arrested for public drunkenness. Lopez was found to possess less than one gram of methamphetamine, which he admitted he intended to sell for a profit. Lopez was additionally charged with possessing methamphetamine for sale. 13-0699
